The official X account for the TV anime YAIBA Samurai Legend has released a commemorative illustration celebrating the theatrical film Detective Conan: Highway no Datenshi surpassing 10 billion yen at the box office, sparking a massive sensation. This special project was drawn by animator Yoshimichi Kameda to honor Takahiro Hasui, who serves as the director for both series.
At the top of the unveiled visual, the golden text "Congratulations on surpassing 10 billion!" leaps off the screen. In the center, Yaiba Kurogane wielding the legendary "Ryūjin-ken" (Dragon God Sword) stands alongside Conan Edogawa (both voiced by Minami Takayama) holding his trusty "Turbo Engine Skateboard," both sporting fearless grins. Yaiba, characterized by his spiky blue hair, stands powerfully holding the sword with its iconic golden dragon guard (etched with the kanji for "Dragon"). Conan, in his signature blue suit, holds his Turbo Engine Skateboard in his right hand while pointing forward with his left. It is a collaboration between two icons representing "high-speed transportation items": the Ryūjin-ken, which enables flight and ultra-high-speed movement, and the skateboard that roars across the ground. The sense of speed in the depiction makes for a luxurious piece where popular characters created by Gosho Aoyama resonate beyond the boundaries of their respective series.
YAIBA Samurai Legend is a brand-new TV anime based on the manga by Aoyama. It is an action-adventure tale following the samurai boy Yaiba Kurogane, who trained in the jungle, as he takes up a legendary magic sword to battle his rival Takeshi Onimaru and others. Meanwhile, Detective Conan: Highway no Datenshi is the latest installment in the popular series about a detective turned into a child by the Black Organization. Both this 10-billion-yen hit and YAIBA are helmed by Director Hasui, whose powerful action direction continues to captivate fans.
On social media, fans reacted to the pairing linked by a shared director and "high-speed movement" themes, with passionate comments such as: "A connection through items specialized for high-speed travel!", "I'm so happy to see him drawn with Yaiba!", and "Can we make this a magazine cover? I'd buy it in a heartbeat! lol"
