Umeda, who described his middle school self as quite "naive," answered, "I'm not confident I could navigate it well if I went back, but I do have a desire to feel that atmosphere again." He then added, "This is a bit of an unexpected answer, though."

"I think I’d like to have a conversation with my middle school self. It’s not that I want to give him advice, but by asking, 'How are you feeling right now?', I might be able to remember my own roots," Umeda said. He concluded the interview by reflecting on his past: "I want to believe that who I am today is because I had those middle school years."

"Kill Blue" features many unique assassins and middle school students, including Jūzō and Kotatsu. Umeda sent a message to fans looking forward to the broadcast: "I believe this is a work that will be a great change of pace if you just relax and let it wash over you. I hope you’ll check it out."
