On ABEMA, Say You To Yo Asobi Thursday [Daisuke Namikawa x Hiro Shimono] #3 was broadcast on May 7 at 10:00 PM.
In this broadcast, a new segment called "Veteran Voice Actors' First Time Doing **!" was held, where the veteran duo takes on various first-time experiences. In addition to trying their hand at making "knife-shaved noodles," a lively brainstorming session took place during the "Keyword Project Talk," where they discussed segments they would like to try on the show.
Daisuke Namikawa & Hiro Shimono Get Super Excited Over "Voice Actor Tropes" Talk!
The opening of the show saw them getting hyped up talking about common shared experiences, or "voice actor tropes," during events and recordings. When asked if they still get nervous, Namikawa confessed, "I get incredibly nervous. To the point where I have to write the character for 'person' on my palm and swallow it [a Japanese superstition to calm nerves]." Hearing this, Shimono showed a look of surprise, blurting out, "Seriously?!"
Regarding tense situations in front of the microphone, Shimono mentioned, "Depending on the day, there are certain sounds or words I struggle with, like thinking, 'Ah, today the M-row sounds aren't working out.' No matter how much I practice, I just can't say that specific part, and I panic." Namikawa completely agreed, saying, "Totally! There are rarely days when a voice actor can perfectly pronounce every single row of sounds, right?" They bonded over this deep, inside-industry talk.
The topic then shifted to the "exclamations" used during video game recordings. The two got highly animated, saying things like, "It's so hard to differentiate the grunt sound 'Huh!' when evading an attack, jumping, or taking light damage," and "You end up wondering, 'Am I actually making these sound different?'" They brought down the house in the studio with these overly niche voice actor tropes.
