Episode 73 of the TV anime Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- 4th season has been broadcasting sequentially since May 20. Protagonist Subaru Natsuki's (CV: Yūsuke Kobayashi) memorable line from the monumental first episode, "So this means, could it be, that I've been summoned to another world?!" was depicted once again in an unexpected way, sending shockwaves through viewers who commented, "This is truly brutal..." and "That single line is way too terrifying."
Subaru, who was summoned to another world on his way back from a convenience store, has since fought various battles, grown, and deepened his bonds with his allies in this alternate world. In the 4th season, to save Rem (CV: Inori Minase) and the others who remain in a deep sleep due to the Authority of "Gluttony," he is taking on new trials at the "Pleiades Watchtower," where the Sage resides.
In the latest installment, Episode 73, Subaru seemed to have a sudden epiphany, saying, "That's it! If this works out perfectly...!" as he walked through a door inside the watchtower. However, he seemingly lost consciousness before he knew it, and was woken up by Emilia (CV: Rie Takahashi) and Beatrice (CV: Satomi Arai).
Despite them being the comrades he had fought alongside through countless fierce battles, Subaru seemed unable to grasp the situation, murmuring in confusion, "A beautiful silver-haired girl, a young girl with drill hair, a giant lizard, and a room made of plants..." Right after Subaru's line, "So this means, I've been summoned to another world?!", the subtitle for Episode 73, "Leaving the Convenience Store, There Was a Wondrous World," flashed on the screen, and the main episode ended.
What on earth happened to Subaru for him to be surprised by "another world" at this stage? Many viewers interpreted this as his memory being wiped, leading to a flood of screams online: "Subaru... you... your memories?!?!?!", "Resetting all his memories at this timing is truly brutal...", "I couldn't help but yell out, 'No way, you can't do this!'", and "That single line is way too terrifying."
