"Chiikawa" is a popular manga that illustrator Nagano has been posting on X (formerly Twitter) since 2020. It won the "Japan Character Award 2022" and went on to win the Grand Prize for two consecutive years at the "Japan Character Award 2024" and "Japan Character Award 2025." The gap between the small, cute characters and the harsh worldview has gained immense popularity among both adults and children, with its follower count surpassing 4.68 million to date.
The anime "Chiikawa" is currently airing on the Fuji TV network during "Mezamashi TV" every Tuesday and Thursday at around 7:36 AM. Furthermore, Chiikawa's very first theatrical film, "Chiikawa The Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island," is scheduled for release on July 24, 2026.
