The official X account for the anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" has released a new special USJ mini-anime episode titled "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End ~The Magic of ●●~" [The Magic to Immerse Oneself in One's Yearning], which is rapidly sparking a buzz.
The released mini-anime tells the story of Frieren (voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki) and her party, who find a grimoire in a dungeon containing "the magic to immerse oneself in one's yearning." Frieren, who doesn't quite understand the feeling of "immersing oneself in yearning," asks, "For example, what kind of 'yearning' would you all want to immerse yourselves in?" In response, Heiter (voiced by Hiroki Tōchi) answers "a world with all-you-can-drink alcohol," Eisen (voiced by Yōji Ueda) answers "a world where every single grape in the world is sour," and Himmel (voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto) goes as far as to uniquely reply, "a world overflowing with as many statues and paintings of me as there are stars, so that my handsome looks will be passed down for eternity."
Afterward, the party discovers that the grimoire says, "USJ: A place where anyone can have an exciting adventure." When they try out the magic, it seamlessly transitions into a promotional video for the collaboration event "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Story Walk ~The Journey of Remembrance~," which will be held at Universal Studios Japan (USJ) for a limited time starting May 30.
In response to the release of this new mini-anime, the cast members have reacted one after another. Ueda, the voice of Eisen, commented, "Recording new lines is always so much fun," Okamoto, the voice of Himmel, stated, "I want to go to USJ," and Tanezaki, the voice of Frieren, shared via quote reposts, "I'm so excited and looking forward to it." Numerous comments eagerly anticipating the event have also poured in from fans, such as "The anime is way too cute," "I'm definitely going," and "Please add 'sour grape juice' to the collab menu for Eisen's sake."
