Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2026 Announced! "My Hero Academia" Wins Anime of the Year, "Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle" Wins Film of the Year

Crunchyroll has announced the winning works for the "Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2026," an annual awards program that honors the creators and cast members who captivate anime fans around the world. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, this year's award ceremony was held on May 23rd at the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa in Tokyo.

A record-breaking 73 million votes were cast this time. Amid enthusiastic support from anime fans worldwide, "My Hero Academia Final Season" was crowned the prestigious "Anime of the Year." In addition, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle - Chapter 1" shined as the "Film of the Year."

Furthermore, the "Global Impact Award," which honors creators who have made significant contributions and left an unforgettable impact on the history of anime, was awarded to the late director Tatsuya Nagamine (known for the "One Piece," "Dragon Ball Super," "Precure," and "Ojamajo Doremi" series, among others). A tribute honoring the director's career was held during the ceremony, and animator Masayuki Sato accepted the award on the director's behalf.

The ceremony was hosted by Sally Amaki and Jon Kabira for the fourth consecutive year. Along with domestic guests such as Asuka Saito, Kasumi Arimura, Nanase Nishino, and the comedy duo Mitorizu, numerous international celebrities, including BamBam, appeared as presenters. Additionally, backed by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, DEAN FUJIOKA, Yoko Takahashi, Porno Graffitti, and ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION delivered spectacular anime song performances of their hit tracks, making it a glamorous ceremony fitting for the 10th anniversary milestone.
