From the theatrical anime "100 Meters," which was released last September and continues to be screened, the background art exhibition "—Togisumasareta Sekai wa Subete Kirameku (The Sharpened World All Shines)—" will be held at GALLERY IRO in Kichijoji, Tokyo, from July 17 to 19 and July 24 to 26. Along with this, advance sales of the background art book "100 Cuts" have also been confirmed.

Based on the debut serialized manga "100 Meters" (published by Kodansha) by Uoto, who is well known for "Orb: On the Movements of the Earth," this work depicts the track and field lives of two protagonists fascinated by the world of the 100m sprint. The film is directed by Kenji Iwaisawa of "On-Gaku: Our Sound." The voice cast features Tori Matsuzaka as Togashi and Shota Sometani as Komiya, with 12 others participating, including Koki Uchiyama and Kenjiro Tsuda. The theme song features the newly written track "Rashisa" by Official HIGE DANdism.

Since its release, the film has recorded over 540,000 admissions and grossed over 800 million yen to date. It has left its mark both domestically and internationally, earning the runner-up spot for Best Animated Feature at the Florida Film Critics Circle (FFCC) Awards, winning the Excellent Animation of the Year at the 49th Japan Academy Film Prize, and entering various rankings during its streaming on Netflix.

The background art exhibition to be held in July will use the line from the film, "The Sharpened World All Shines," as its subtitle, displaying analog background original drawings and art materials used in the main feature and the pilot version. In addition, a special planned exhibition is scheduled, featuring a pile of 3,500 sheets of original drawings, combining line art and coloring, which were used in the long-take scene in the rain.

The art book, which will be sold in advance at the venue, contains 100 cuts selected from the analog background art used in the movie. To mark the event, a comment from Keikankun Yamaguchi, the art director of this work and the organizer of this exhibition, has been released.

Furthermore, the film's Blu-ray & DVD, as well as the LP version of the original soundtrack, will be released on May 27.

【Keikankun Yamaguchi Comment】
Being able to be involved in the background art for "100 Meters" was an extremely valuable experience for the art staff. The world where the characters lived is also the world where the staff spent two and a half years. I hope you can feel the traces of each and every brushstroke up close in this cozy venue.
