“I am Saaya from Laland, and I play the role of Sapphire. Up until now, I have eagerly and confidently taken on jobs of any genre, but this was the only offer—voicing the main character—that made me flinch just a little. That's because I have a deep respect for how uniquely, meticulously, and exceptionally worlds are built in anime.
I believe the original work, Princess Knight, was the very first shojo manga to feature a ‘fighting woman’ as the protagonist. When the director told me that Sapphire's upbringing and background overlap with mine, my resolve was set. I felt that Sapphire shares my motto of fighting back with humor as a reaction to adversity.
Since this is by no means my main profession, some people might have harsh words about me receiving such a major role. However, I focused entirely on outputting Sapphire's inner voice to the maximum. Now that I am over 30, there has been no other job where I struggled so much and enjoyed the challenge. I would be thrilled if you would watch it!”
