Across its 24 episodes, Season 1 of the TV anime Jujutsu Kaisen adapted the story from Volume 1 of the manga up to Chapter 63 in the middle of Volume 8. Spanning two cours, it covers the very beginning of the story—where the protagonist, Yuji Itadori, swallows a Special Grade Cursed Object, "Ryomen Sukuna's Finger," to save his friends from a curse—all the way to the arc revolving around the Special Grade Cursed Objects known as the "Cursed Womb: Death Paintings."

The first cour follows Yuji as he is brought into Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School by the strongest sorcerer, Satoru Gojo, and begins fighting Cursed Spirits like Mahito as a sorcerer. The second cour primarily focuses on the "Kyoto Sister School Exchange Event" arc. Key highlights include the phenomenal performances by the star-studded voice cast and the breathtaking action scenes animated by the studio MAPPA.

Season 2 consists of 23 episodes and adapts the episodes from Chapter 64 in Volume 8 to a portion of Chapter 139 in Volume 16 of the original manga.

Episodes 25 through 29 aired the "Hidden Inventory / Premature Death" arc, which delves into the Jujutsu High days of Gojo and Suguru Geto—who appears as an enemy in Season 1. It meticulously depicts Gojo's awakening into the strongest sorcerer and the shifting mindset that ultimately led Geto down a dark path.

Episodes 30 through 47 cover the "Shibuya Incident" arc, showcasing the clash between Yuji and his fellow sorcerers against Geto and the Cursed Spirits who instigate an unprecedented act of jujutsu terrorism. Packed with intense battle scenes, it received immense praise for its high-quality animation and the anime-exclusive directing choices that deeply stir the audience's emotions.

Season 3 consists of 12 episodes and adapted the story from Chapter 138 in Volume 16 to the beginning of Chapter 181 in Volume 21 of the original manga.

Following Satoru Gojo's sealing during the Shibuya Incident, Kenjaku—the mastermind behind it all—initiates the "Culling Game," a deadly battle royale for sorcerers. Starting with the shocking development of Yuta Okkotsu appearing as Yuji Itadori's executioner, the sorcerers struggle to pacify the Culling Game and break the seal on Satoru Gojo.

How Far Will Season 4 Cover? How Many Episodes Will It Have?

Both Season 1 and Season 2 of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime ran for two cours, with Season 1 airing 24 episodes and Season 2 airing 23 episodes. It has been announced that the Culling Game arc will be produced as a two-part TV series. While Season 3 (Part 1) aired with 12 episodes, it remains unknown how many episodes or cours Season 4 (Part 2) will have.

Given that Season 1 covered 63 chapters, Season 2 covered 76 chapters, and Season 3 covered 44 chapters in a single cour, if Season 4 covers around 31 to 44 chapters, it will likely go up to around Chapter 222, "Foreboding," in Volume 25, where the story reaches a solid turning point.

Is the Jujutsu Kaisen Anime Faithfully Adapting the Original Manga?

The storyline of the Jujutsu Kaisen TV anime basically stays faithful to the progression of the original manga. Therefore, after watching the anime, you can dive right into the comic series—which concluded in December 2024 with a total of 30 volumes—to catch up on the episodes following the anime.

However, there are places where the anime shuffles the order of episodes compared to the manga. After the "Death Painting" arc where they fight the incarnated Cursed Wombs, the manga features an episode titled "That's What It Is," where Yuji reunites with a middle school classmate, but the anime moved on to "Hidden Inventory / Premature Death." The "That's What It Is" episode was instead adapted at the very beginning of the "Shibuya Incident" arc, right after "Hidden Inventory / Premature Death." That being said, since "That's What It Is" is a slice-of-life, breather episode showcasing the characters' everyday lives, changing its order has no impact on the overall story.

You can pick up the story after Season 3 starting from Volume 21 of the manga.

"Jujutsu Kaisen 0," based on the prequel manga "Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School," was released in theaters on December 24, 2021.

The protagonist of this movie is Yuta Okkotsu, a Special Grade Jujutsu Sorcerer who barely appeared in Season 1 of the TV anime. The story faithfully follows the original manga "Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School," tracking his journey as he enrolls at Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School to exorcise his childhood friend, Rika Orimoto, who has turned into a curse, and takes his first steps as a sorcerer alongside classmates Maki Zen'in, Toge Inumaki, and Panda.

Furthermore, movie-original scenes were added, such as action sequences featuring Nanami, Mei Mei, and the Kyoto High students that weren't depicted in the manga, as well as a surprise appearance by Atsuya Kusakabe, who had not yet appeared in Season 1 of the TV anime.

Starting October 17, 2025, a revival screening of "Jujutsu Kaisen 0" was held.

Released on May 30, 2025, "Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death Compilation Movie" is a compilation film of the "Hidden Inventory / Premature Death" arc from Season 2 of the TV anime. "Hidden Inventory / Premature Death" originally aired for 5 episodes starting in July 2023. Although it includes some anime-original (filler) footage, it fundamentally stays true to the manga.
