It won the "Japan Character Award 2022" and went on to win the Grand Prix for two consecutive years at the "Japan Character Award 2024" and "Japan Character Award 2025." The gap between the small, cute characters and the harsh worldview has garnered immense popularity among both adults and children, and its follower count has surpassed 4.71 million to date.

The anime "Chiikawa" is currently airing on the Fuji TV network during "Mezamashi TV" every Tuesday and Thursday at around 7:36 AM. Furthermore, "Chiikawa The Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island," which marks the first theatrical feature film for "Chiikawa," is scheduled for release on July 24, 2026.
