On the official X account of the animation studio Cypic (CygamesPictures), an image of Bravern (CV: Kenichi Suzumura) from the anime Brave Bang Bravern! wearing a frog costume was released on June 6th to mark "Frog Day," sparking a massive buzz online.
In the post, they started by saying, "Speaking of the rainy season, it's rain... and speaking of rain, it's frogs," and declared, "Defying the gloomy weather, Cypic will push through this month by letting our courage explode!" Along with the hashtags "#BraveBangBravern" and "#FrogDay," the message brims with energetic determination, as if to blow away the depressing atmosphere of the rainy season.
In the published image, Bravern is completely enveloped in a green frog costume. At first glance, he appears to fit into the costume with the inorganic, deadpan face characteristic of robots. However, if you zoom in closely, a highly surreal detail can be confirmed: the corners of his mouth are faintly turned up, revealing that he is actually smiling.
The anime Brave Bang Bravern! is a fully original TV anime series produced by CygamesPictures (now Cypic). In addition to the hot-blooded, classic developments of robot anime, what captivated many fans was its norm-shattering character dynamics—above all, the fact that Bravern himself, a giant humanoid weapon, speaks human language fluently and displays an abnormal obsession and overwhelmingly heavy affection toward the protagonist pilot, Isami Ao (CV: Ryōta Suzuki).
In response to this bold official post, a wide variety of playful reactions and witty retorts filled social media, such as "This robot is such a free-use asset lol," and "He probably thinks he can get away with anything just because he's Bravern." Other comments expressed a mix of amusement and slight unease, saying, "I thought he was deadpan, but when I zoomed in, he was smiling, which actually creeped me out a little bit," and "Bravern really doesn't pick and choose his jobs, does he?" Furthermore, a comment parodying Bravern's intense behavior in the show appeared: "Isamiii!! Can't you hear it?! The frog song!! Isamiii!!!!!" Fans are thoroughly enjoying the moment, noting how his extraordinary passion for Isami painfully yet hilariously shines through even in this surreal illustration.
