It has been announced that the TV anime adaptation of "Bride of the Barrier Master," the immensely popular supernatural, Japanese-style romance fantasy series by Kureha with over 2.5 million copies in circulation, is scheduled to begin broadcasting in January 2027. Along with this announcement, the second teaser visual, a special teaser trailer, and main cast information have been simultaneously released.
The story is a Japanese-style romance fantasy centering around Hana Ichise, a young girl who has been mistreated and compared to her brilliant twin sister as a subpar practitioner. Her life takes a turn when Saku Ichinomiya, the head of the main family, forces her into a contract marriage, prompting her to struggle and find a way to live true to herself. The animation production will be handled by TROYCA.
The second teaser visual, released alongside the broadcast window announcement, is a beautiful piece depicting the exquisite distance between the two characters starting from a "contract marriage," showing Saku looking gentle yet audacious amidst full-bloomed cherry blossoms, and Hana looking bewildered but gradually drawn to him.
For the highly anticipated main cast, Akari Kitō has been cast as Hana Ichise, and Kikunosuke Toya has been cast as Saku Ichinomiya. In addition, gorgeous newly shot cast photos of the two, styled after the beautiful and profound worldview of the series, have been released at the same time.
In the newly unveiled special teaser trailer, the character voices performed by Kitō and Toya have been revealed for the first time, accompanied by the overwhelming visual beauty created by TROYCA. With their voices breathing life into the characters, the trailer allows viewers to experience the worldview of the series ahead of its release.
