Red River Begins Broadcasting on July 7! Main PV Released & Episode 1 Synopsis Arrives

Episode 1 of the anime Red River will premiere on July 7, airing every Tuesday late night at 25:29 on Nippon TV's AnichU block, and on July 8, airing every Wednesday late night at 24:00 on BS Nippon TV. Along with this announcement, the main PV and the synopsis for Episode 1 have been released.

This series is based on the immensely popular historical fantasy manga written and illustrated by Chie Shinohara, who is celebrating her 45th anniversary as an artist. The original manga was serialized in Shōjo Comic (Shogakukan) from 1995 to 2002. With over 20 million copies in circulation (as of January, including digital editions), it won the 46th Shogakukan Manga Award in the Shōjo category. It was also adapted into a stage play by the Takarazuka Revue in 2018 and remains a monumental masterpiece of shōjo manga loved worldwide. Kōsuke Kobayashi serves as the director, with animation production by Tatsunoko Production.

Yuri Suzuki (CV: Mirai Tachibana), an ordinary girl living in modern-day Japan, is suddenly summoned back in time to the Hittite Empire of the 14th century BC. While bewildered by her new reality, Yuri meets Kail Muršili (CV: Wataru Katō), a prince regarded as the top candidate for the imperial throne. Taken in by him as a concubine for her protection, Yuri gradually wins the hearts of the people and becomes renowned as Ishtar, the goddess of war.
