It won the "Japan Character Award 2022" and went on to win the Grand Prix for two consecutive years at the "Japan Character Award 2024" and "Japan Character Award 2025." The gap between the small, cute characters and the harsh world setting has garnered wide popularity from people of all ages, and its follower count has surpassed 4.74 million to date.
The anime "Chiikawa" is currently airing on the Fuji TV network during the morning show "Mezamashi TV" every Tuesday and Thursday around 7:36 AM. In addition, "Chiikawa's" first-ever theatrical film, "Chiikawa The Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island," is scheduled to be released on July 24, 2026.
