Anime "MAO" 2nd Cour Begins Broadcasting on July 4! Five New Cast Members Confirmed Including Rie Kugimiya and Katsuyuki Konishi

The preview stills and synopsis for Episode 13 of the anime "MAO" have been released. In addition, the second key visual for the 2nd cour of the TV anime "MAO," which is scheduled to begin broadcasting on July 4, along with five additional characters and cast members, have been unveiled all at once. Furthermore, the textless opening video for the 2nd cour was pre-released.

The original manga is the latest work "MAO" by Rumiko Takahashi, whose tankobon volumes have surpassed a cumulative total of 200 million copies worldwide. Serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" (Shogakukan) since 2019, this work is a story that fuses immersive dark fantasy with a time-slip mystery.

In the foreground of the newly released second key visual are Mao, Nanoka Kiba, Otoya, and Byoki in the form of Haimaru. Behind them, along with the senior disciples of the "Gokouke," a prestigious family of Onmyoji that Mao served during the Heian period—Kamon, Hyakka, Natsuno, Hakubi, and Shiranui—Mao's former love interest, Sana, and the mysterious woman, Yurako, are depicted in stained glass.

The characters with somewhat shadowed expressions floating in the dimly lit space and the vibrant stained glass evoke their intricately intertwined fates, creating a visual that embodies the 2nd cour's catchphrase, "Cursing each other, crossing paths."

As additional cast members for this work, those newly announced to join are Takuya Sato as Hakubi, Rie Kugimiya as Natsuno, Katsuyuki Konishi as Daigo, Tasuku Kaito as Soma Kagami, and Shino Shimoji as Kagari Hosho. Comments from the five additional cast members sharing their passionate thoughts about this work have also arrived.

Additionally, the synopsis and preview stills for Episode 13 "Byoki," the final episode of the 1st cour airing on Saturday, June 27, have been released. The story unfolds as Nanoka, who was entrusted with a message for Mao from Byoki who appeared in the Reiwa world, heads to the Taisho period.
