The official X account for the original Frieren: Beyond Journey's End manga posted a single photograph along with the text "Frieren with a Statue." The crossover between the statue of Mito Komon and his entourage and a comical plushie has sparked a massive response, with fans flocking to the comments to quote the legendary line: "Can you not see this crest?!"
In the released photo, a Frieren plushie is placed in the foreground against the backdrop of the grand-looking statue of Mito Komon and his travel companions. The plushie is designed in a deformed chibi style, featuring a unique expression with its eyes narrowed into simple horizontal lines.
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is a fantasy manga written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe. The story follows Frieren, a long-lived elf mage who was part of the hero's party that defeated the Demon King, as she embarks on a "journey to learn about humans" following the death of one of her former companions.
In response to this post, fans left reactions such as "The statue of the Hero of Mito," "In a way, Lord Komon also had a three-person party," and "I guess the number of people who don't even know about this show anymore is growing." Since a similar "Frieren with a Statue" post was made back in May of this year in front of the statue of Lord Tokugawa Ieyasu in Shizuoka, some fans pointed out a sense of "déjà vu." The comments section buzzed with various remarks, including those referencing and parodying Mito Komon's famous catchphrases, such as "Stark! Fern! Teach them a lesson! Is that her new catchphrase?" and "Can you not see this crest?!"
