New Illustrations of Subaru and Others! Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Joins the Aomori Nebuta Festival, Fans React: 'This Is Why Re:Zero Is So Loved'

On the official X account for the anime Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, information about its participation in the Aomori Nebuta Festival and newly drawn illustrations have been released, sparking buzz among fans.

As the eighth installment of the TV anime Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-'s '10 Major Projects,' the third of ten nationwide event appearances, the 'Aomori Nebuta Festival,' will feature a nebuta float carrying Emilia (voiced by Rie Takahashi). On August 1 (Saturday), the festival's eve, the float will only be on display. During the main festival, from August 2 (Sunday) through 7 (Friday), it will be paraded through the streets (with display only on the 3rd). The float will be on display in front of the Nebuta Warehouse of the Aomori City Nebuta Festival Executive Committee.

In the released images, Emilia in a yukata and the spirit Puck (voiced by Yumi Uchiyama) are depicted alongside fireworks for a summer-festival feel, colorfully showcasing their participation. Separately released, newly drawn SD (chibi-style) illustrations depict an adorable, deformed Subaru Natsuki (voiced by Yusuke Kobayashi) and Garfiel Tinsel (voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto) against a red-toned background scattered with numerous ringa (a local dialect word for ringo, or apples). Garfiel is shown grinning mischievously while cradling an overflowing basketful of red and green ringa in both hands, while Subaru skillfully peels a ringa with a knife.

The anime Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- is an immensely popular dark fantasy series based on the light novel of the same name by Tappei Nagatsuki. It follows Subaru, a powerless young man suddenly summoned to another world on his way home from a convenience store, as he confronts a harsh fate to protect the people dear to him, relying solely on his power to 'return by death' — dying and rewinding time. The unpredictable story development, in which he overcomes seemingly hopeless situations, has earned widespread support.
