On the official X account for Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, a photo of a Frieren plushie promoting the first volume of the manga Enma-chan no Result was posted alongside the text "Frieren's Recommendation," and it has become a hot topic among fans.
In the photo, the familiar Frieren plushie is seated in a chair, with the first volume of Enma-chan no Result placed in front of it. What really catches the eye is the book's obi band: beneath the word "Recommended" printed in large letters, illustrations of three characters from different series are lined up. From left to right, they are Aura the Guillotine from Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Kazuya Uesugi from Touch, and Jinpei Matsuda from Detective Conan—a striking obi design that brings together characters who all end up dead over the course of their respective stories.
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is a smash-hit fantasy series that follows Frieren, a long-lived elf mage who helped a hero's party defeat the Demon King, as she sets out on a "journey to understand people" after the death of a former companion. Enma-chan no Result is a manga set in a world where people receive an assessment of their lives—their "result"—after death. Both works have themes of death and the feelings of those left behind running through the heart of their stories, earning them the empathy and support of many readers.
In response to the surreal promotional post from the official account, fans reacted with surprise, calling it "such a novel obi comment" and "look at this lineup of endorsers." On top of that, the band's roster of nothing but deceased characters drew a flood of playful reactions: "Please rest in peace, lol," "With Kazuya Uesugi and Jinpei Matsuda lined up side by side, you'd normally expect Himmel to come next—but Aura?! Way out of left field," and "I'm sensing some seriously hardcore Aura love here." The featured works themselves also drew warm comments, such as "It's honestly packed with heartwarming episodes," and "I seriously recommend this manga myself, too."
