The official X account of the survival horror game Resident Evil has sparked a massive buzz after an unusual exchange with the official X account of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, releasing a photograph that looks as though Frieren is being eaten by an item box from the game.

This exchange began on July 16 when the official Frieren X account posted an image punning on the name of the town from Resident Evil, titled "Raccoon City-ren." In response, the official Resident Evil account replied, "Frieren-san, this is the latest treasure chest!", to which the Frieren account responded by picturing the contents of the game's item box as a "pile of grimoires"—a humor-filled banter between official accounts that generated a huge reaction among fans.

In the newly published post, the lid of the wooden item box familiar from the Resident Evil series is open, capturing Frieren plunged headfirst inside. True to the accompanying text, "Frieren-san, if you lean out too far... Ah.", her upper body is completely swallowed with only her legs sticking out of the box, brilliantly recreating her signature running gag of being preyed upon by "Mimics"—monsters in her universe that disguise themselves as treasure chests.
