The anime "Daemons of the Shadow Realm" is based on the latest work currently serialized in "Monthly Shonen Gangan" by Hiromu Arakawa, the creator of "Fullmetal Alchemist." It is a mythical fantasy in which a young boy, Yuru, approaches the lore, mysteries, and secrets hidden in his village after his hometown is attacked.

[Synopsis]
"You were fooling me too--"
Danji, his childhood friend and best friend, was actually not human, but one half of the Tsugai "Zashiki-warashi." Furthermore, his master was Kyoka, whom Yuru knew very well. Crushed by the fact that he had been deceived all this time, Yuru leaves behind the worried Right, Left, and Ken to ponder alone in the mountains.
Confused and not knowing whom to trust, Yuru is snuggled up to by a pug that followed him, bringing back warm memories of Danji.
