'A Game, a Journey, and a Partner We Spent Together' — Voice Actors Ayako Kawasumi and Maaya Sakamoto Look Back on FGO's Journey

Since July 17, 2026, the 'Fate/Grand Order Exhibition -Hoshimi no Kairou-' has been held at Mori Arts Center Gallery. The exhibition looks back on the story of the smartphone RPG Fate/Grand Order (FGO), which has been unfolding for over a decade since its 2015 release, through artwork and setting materials.

At a media preview held the day before the exhibition opened, a press gaggle was held with Ayako Kawasumi, who voices Altria Pendragon among other roles, and Maaya Sakamoto, who voices Leonardo da Vinci among other roles and has performed FGO's theme songs over the years, including "Shikisai."

Asked for her impressions of the exhibition, Kawasumi said, "Memories from both being involved as a voice actor and from having played the game myself as a player all came flooding back at the same time. There are also materials from the recording sessions, and I felt happy that everyone would get to see them."

Sakamoto replied, "I thought it was an exhibition worth spending plenty of time to see everything. The fact that visitors get to see materials like the storyboards we see during recording sessions made me happy, since it means more things we can share together. You can also listen to newly recorded voice lines made especially for this exhibition, so I enjoyed it as an exhibition you can experience, not just look at."

The newly recorded voice lines can be heard in the videos at each exhibit or through the paid voice guide. The conversation then turned to the new footage shown in the opening theater, with Kawasumi saying, "I really feel that FGO is also Mash's journey, so it turned out to be footage that shows how she met all kinds of people, grew, and ran full speed through it all.

I think the Masters here all have a strong feeling of Mash as their own partner, so I think watching this footage first will get you ready to immerse yourself in FGO's world," she commented, and Sakamoto chimed in, "The moment the footage starts playing, I bet some people will already be in tears (laughs)." MC Haruka Mori also responded, "I cried (laughs)."

Sakamoto went on to add, "There's also a wonderful device that draws you into the world of the exhibition, and I couldn't help but cry out with joy." We'll leave it to visitors to experience firsthand exactly what that device is.
