"Kusunoki's Flunking Her High School Glow-Up" Gets TV Anime Adaptation! Teaser Visual Unveiled, Comments from Yuuto Uemura and Tomori Kusunoki Arrive

A TV anime adaptation of the manga "Kusunoki's Flunking Her High School Glow-Up" has been announced. Along with this, a teaser visual and teaser trailer have been released, and information on the main characters, cast comments, and a celebratory illustration and comment from original creator Mii Mitsuki have also arrived.

The series is based on the manga of the same name by Mii Mitsuki, serialized in comic POOL (Ichijinsha). It's a coming-of-age romantic comedy centered on Shizuki Keisuke, a high school boy who successfully pulled off his high school glow-up after a bitter experience in middle school, and Kusunoki Shizuka, a high school girl who likewise appears to have succeeded in her high school glow-up but is actually bad at conversation. The story depicts the awkward, noisy daily life of the two clumsy characters, who become "limited-time" friends so that Kusunoki can improve her communication skills.

To celebrate the TV anime adaptation announcement, the official X account is holding a giveaway campaign for a celebratory illustration shikishi board by original creator Mii Mitsuki, running from Thursday, July 23, 2026 to 23:59 on Sunday, August 2. In addition, Ichijinsha's official webcomic site "Ichijin Plus" is running a campaign allowing readers to read the first two volumes of the original comic (up to Chapter 15) for free until 23:59 on Thursday, August 6.
