"Mii-chan and Miss Yamada," Serialized in Magazine Pocket, Gets 2027 Anime Adaptation! Special PV and Original Creator's Comment Unveiled: "Looking Forward to Seeing How It's Expressed Through Animation"

"Mii-chan and Miss Yamada," a manga by Nene Azuki currently serialized in Kodansha's manga app "Magazine Pocket," has been confirmed to receive an anime adaptation in 2027. Alongside the announcement, a special PV celebrating the anime adaptation and a newly drawn celebratory illustration and comment from Azuki have been released.

Set in Tokyo's Shinjuku Kabukicho district in 2012, the story follows Yamada-san, who works as a hostess at a cabaret club, and Mii-chan, a slightly clumsy newcomer who struggles at everything she does, depicting 12 months in the nighttime world surrounding them. The series' portrayal of loneliness and harsh reality has resonated widely, particularly on social media, and its six volumes released so far have surpassed a combined 2.8 million copies in print. It was also ranked 4th in the men's category of "This Manga Is Amazing! 2026." The original manga has been announced to conclude with its next volume, Volume 7, meaning the serialization is entering its final stage.

To celebrate the anime adaptation, a newly drawn illustration arrived from original creator Azuki featuring Mii-chan and Miss Yamada smiling side by side alongside the words "Congratulations!! Anime Adaptation," along with the hamster Hamukatsu. In her comment, Azuki expressed her gratitude and anticipation, saying, "I am deeply grateful to all the readers who have supported this work," and "I myself am really looking forward to seeing how the world of 'Mii-chan and Miss Yamada' will expand through expression unique to animation."

The special PV, unveiled at the same time, features the two characters standing hand in hand in front of the "Kabukicho Ichibangai" gate, along with character voice narration reflecting on the days they've shared so far.
