"G-G-G-G-God-Tier Animation!" Fans Go Wild! Tanjirō Kamado & Giyū Tomioka in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Cafe 1st Batch Illustration Draw Praise for Water Fellow Disciples Being "Too Cool"

On animation studio ufotable's official X account, three new character illustrations featuring Tanjirō Kamado (VA: Natsuki Hanae) and Giyū Tomioka (VA: Takahiro Sakurai) from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba were revealed for "ufotable CHARACTERS Cafe IKEBUKURO," generating significant buzz.

The establishment is set to officially hold its grand opening on August 8 as a new shop and flagship location under the "ufotable Cafe" brand. Ahead of the launch, a pre-opening period will run from August 1 to 4, with Tanjirō and Giyū featured as the highlight characters for August, the opening month.

The first piece is a newly drawn illustration titled "Tanjirō Kamado & Giyū Tomioka" by Akira Matsushima, character designer and chief animation director for the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime. It will be featured in special items exclusive to ufotable Cafe, such as the "Cafe Kuji" lottery. The published image depicts Tanjirō and Giyū clad in Demon Slayer Corps uniforms, each brandishing a Nichirin Sword. Giyū, standing on the left, twists his upper body with a hand on his blade, casting a sharp glare over his shoulder. Tanjirō, standing on the right, firmly grips his sword with both hands, sporting a valiant gaze. Distinctive Demon Slayer Marks from the series have manifested on their faces, resulting in an artwork charged with tension and impact.

Furthermore, double-sided illustrations depicting the characters visiting the cafe with expressive faces were revealed as the remaining two pieces. In Tanjirō's image, he is depicted sitting in a chair, talking with a smile while gesturing with his hands, presented in a mirrored composition. In Giyū's image, he can be seen sitting quietly in a chair with a blue drink and straw in one hand. Both offer a double-sided specification allowing fans to enjoy expressions with their eyes open and closed.

The anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a smash-hit animation series based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotoge. Set in Taisho-era Japan, it follows Tanjirō, a boy whose family was slaughtered by demons, as he joins the "Demon Slayer Corps"—an organization dedicated to hunting demons—to turn his sister, the sole survivor who was transformed into a demon, back into a human, throwing himself into fierce battles alongside his companions. ufotable handles the animation production, enjoying massive popularity both domestically and internationally.
