The anime Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia is based on the popular manga by Tomato Soup, currently serialized in Souffle (Akita Shoten). The protagonist, Shitara (voiced by Akira Sekine), lost her mother and was taken far away from her hometown, but after being taken in by a family of scholars, she learned the possibilities and importance of "knowledge" and deepened her education. However, having everything stolen from her by the "Mongol Empire," Shitara resolves to use the single remaining weapon—her "wisdom"—to gain favor with the royal family and collapse the empire from within.

[Synopsis]
Trusting Shitara, who holds a grudge against the Mongol Empire, Töregene begins to tell her own sad past. Going back 25 years in time. Töregene, who married Dayir, the chief of the Merkit tribe who was much older than her, connects with Dayir's daughters, Khulan and the others. However, their peaceful days are short-lived when they are attacked by the Mongol tribe led by Genghis Khan, and Dayir makes a certain decision.
