Bonus Prizes Go All Out Again: Chiikawa the Movie's 3rd Theater Gift Is a Toy Siren That Runs — "'Happy' Has Never Sounded So Scary" and "I Kind of Want to Pay Extra for This"

Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island's official X account has announced that a pull-back car toy called "Happy Siren♪" (three designs in total) will be distributed starting August 22 as the film's third theater exclusive gift, and the news has caused a stir online.

The released images show real photos of the "Happy Siren♪" toys. Each of the three designs features a smiling Siren carrying Chiikawa (voiced by Haruka Aoki), Hachiware (voiced by Makoto Tanaka), or Usagi (voiced by Ari Ozawa) on its back. The images also include an explanation of how to play in the upper right corner — "Pull it back and let go, and the Siren will run!" — alongside a shot of the Siren carrying Chiikawa dashing forward with impressive speed.

Chiikawa is an anime series based on the popular manga by Nagano, which originated on X. The series has earned broad popularity across all ages thanks to the gap between its small, cute-looking characters — collectively nicknamed "Chiikawa" — and its at times nerve-wracking, harsh worldview. The TV anime is currently airing as part of Fuji TV's Mezamashi TV and other programming, while Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island has been in theaters since July 24. The franchise also spans a wide range of media, including the smartphone app Chiikawa Pocket.
