Chiikawa Movie Surpasses 10 Billion Yen at Box Office & 4DX Screenings Confirmed! Fans Buzzing: "We’re gonna get soaked lol" and "Usagi’s Rap Is Gonna Be Bumping"

The official X account for Chiikawa The Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island announced that the film has surpassed 10 billion yen at the box office and that 4DX screenings will begin in theaters nationwide on Saturday, September 5, sparking massive buzz.

Along with the 10-billion-yen milestone announcement, an illustration was released featuring a mosaic background filled with iconic scenes from the film, overlaid with bold light-blue text reading "Congrats on 10 Billion!" and depicting Chiikawa (voiced by Haruka Aoki) and friends celebrating with confetti. Additionally, the poster released for the 4DX announcement features Chiikawa and Hachiware flying toward the viewer alongside a spoonful of curry against a massive "4DX" logo backdrop. The poster notes that moviegoers can experience the immersive feeling of being on the island right alongside Chiikawa and friends, teasing "Combat action with the Siren," "Usagi’s dynamic rap," and "Wind and water splashes felt throughout the adventure."

In response to the announcement, fans on social media posted comments regarding the 10-billion-yen milestone such as, "I knew zero going in, but the movie completely hooked me!", "I’ve seen it five times. Chiikawa is an anime adaptation based on the popular manga series created by Nagano on X. The gap between the cute, small creatures (commonly known as "Chiikawa") and the surprisingly harsh, suspenseful world they inhabit has gained widespread popularity among both adults and children. Currently, the TV anime airs on Fuji TV’s Mezamashi TV and other programs, while Chiikawa The Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island has been in theaters since July 24.
