How Has Her Mindset Shifted While Playing Madoka in the First New Entry in 13 Years? Interview with Aoi Yuki for Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Walpurgisnacht: Rising

— You mentioned depending on surrounding characters. Did you record alongside the rest of the cast?

Yuki: The main cast was able to record together. Essentially, Madoka is a character who responds to what others throw at her, so having everyone around made it much easier for me to slip back into the Madoka of those days.

Also, calling everyone by their names helps me get back into character. Even during recordings for non-Walpurgisnacht: Rising projects like games or slot machines, saying names like "(in Madoka's voice) Homura-chan! Sayaka-chan! Kyoko-chan!" strangely brings back memories of those days (lol).

Everyone: (laughs)

— That makes sense—there really is an image of Madoka constantly calling out someone's name.

Yuki: Absolutely. She calls out someone's name far more often than she delivers famous solo lines. She really is a girl who calls out to others that much. She's the one who brings everyone back together.

— Finally, a standard question: do you have a message for the fans looking forward to the premiere? Since Walpurgisnacht: Rising is hard to summarize without spoilers, it might be a bit tricky...

Yuki: That's true (lol). Let's go big then! I believe Madoka Magica has become a legend over the years, and I hope everyone comes to the theater to witness the moment this legend moves forward in real time once again.

Yuki: It really is a legend! I think fans will be able to fully immerse themselves in the world of Madoka Magica, rendered with overwhelmingly cutting-edge modern technology.
