Daemons of the Shadow Realm's Yuru Cosplay: The Attention to Detail in Costume Texture and Facial Expressions

—What made you want to cosplay as Yuru from Daemons of the Shadow Realm this time?

Meimu Touma (hereafter, Touma): Yuru was the cosplay I most wanted to do from my favorite anime that I'm currently following, and it also lined up with wanting to make a kimono-based costume, so those two things came together and I decided to cosplay as him.

—What aspects did you want to express through this cosplay?

Touma: Since this is the outfit he wore during the time he was living an ordinary life in the village, I tried not to stick to just a stern, cool expression, but also to show a softer, gentler expression, the kind he might only show to those close to her. For the costume, I imagined it might have been made in the village, so I used fabric that looks like it contains natural materials such as hemp.

—Please tell us when and how you first got into Daemons of the Shadow Realm, and what you find appealing about it.

Touma: I've always loved Hiromu Arakawa's work, so when the manga began serialization, I read it and thought, "Wow, this is an amazing series..." When the anime started, I thought the same thing: "Wow, something amazing is starting..." The way the first episode hooks you in is genuinely fascinating. The story's perfectly balanced pacing is a big part of the appeal, but there are also so many charming characters that it constantly leaves me wanting more.
