"Maomao Clicked Her Tongue lol" "Only Maomao Can Tsk at the Emperor's Younger Brother" Fans Delighted by Maomao and Jinshi's Exchange in The Apothecary Diaries Mini Anime

Episode 50 of the mini anime Maomao's Monologue, in which the characters explain knowledge from the main series, has been released on the official X account of the anime The Apothecary Diaries. The comical exchange between the super-deformed Maomao (voiced by Aoi Yuki) and Jinshi (voiced by Takeo Otsuka) is getting a lot of attention among fans.

The Apothecary Diaries is an anime based on the light novel of the same name by Hyuganatsu. It is a major hit that has also been adapted into manga in two monthly magazines. Popular for its mystery plots, in which Maomao, who ends up working as a poison taster in the rear palace, solves cases, and for the comical exchanges between Maomao and Jinshi, it became a huge topic of conversation. Season 3 begins in October 2026 and will air in two split cours, together with a second part starting in April 2027.

The newly released mini anime features Maomao and Jinshi talking about the Fire-Rat Cloak, also known as fireproof asbestos cloth, which appeared in Episode 50 of the main series, "Fire-Rat Cloak." When Jinshi asks Maomao, "Wouldn't you like to hear an interesting story?" she curtly replies, "Not really." Jinshi shoots her a sulky, dissatisfied look, and Maomao responds with a "Tsk" of her tongue. Even in their chibi forms, the two still have the same entertaining back-and-forth in this fun video.

In response to the post, many fans have shared delighted reactions, such as "Maomao just clicked her tongue lol She's so cold it's cute," "Maomao is the only one who can tsk at the Emperor's younger brother!", "Jinshi getting all worked up is adorable," "She tsked at the Emperor's younger brother, and then cut in with the explanation while he was still talking," "Even after learning his true identity, she's still as rude as ever, which is so Maomao and absolutely perfect," and "Maomao is so cold lol Hang in there, Jinshi!"
