Fans Thrilled by The Apothecary Diaries Film Trailer Featuring Kenshi Yonezu Theme Song: "Yonezu and The Apothecary Diaries Are a Perfect Match"

On the official X account for the anime The Apothecary Diaries, it was announced that Kenshi Yonezu will perform the theme song for the film The Apothecary Diaries: The Late Lady's Treasure, which opens on December 11, and a new trailer featuring the song has been released. The tie-up with the hugely popular artist has drawn a big response.

The Apothecary Diaries is an anime based on the light novel of the same name by Hyuganatsu. It is a major hit that has also been adapted into manga in two monthly magazines. The detective stories led by Maomao, who comes to work as a "poison taster" in the rear palace, and the comical exchanges between Maomao and Jinshi have been popular and generated a great deal of buzz. Season 3 of the anime starts in October 2026 and will air in two split cours, together with a second part starting in April 2027. The series' first-ever film, The Apothecary Diaries: The Late Lady's Treasure, is scheduled for release on December 11, 2026.

The film's theme song is "Haru ga Tomori," a song written specifically for it by Kenshi Yonezu. The song was also unveiled in the newly released trailer. Set to Yonezu's music, the trailer tells a story in which a series of incidents intertwine around a treasure hidden in a city on the water, building anticipation for the film itself.

In response to the announcement, fans flooded social media with comments of surprise and excitement, such as "Yonezu is here!!!!", "Kenshi Yonezu at last!!!!", "The theme song is the best", "I shouted 'what a banger!!' within 5 seconds of it starting" and "The Apothecary Diaries and Yonezu are such a perfect match." Many posts also seemed overwhelmed, listing the artists behind the previous opening and ending themes, such as "Ryokuoushoku Shakai, Uru, Lilas Ikuta, Mrs. GREEN APPLE, Yorushika, Aina the End, wacci, Dai Hirai, Omoinotake, Eve + Kenshi Yonezu for the film.
