—— How did you come across 'Kamen America,' and what do you like about the series?
Kawasaki:As I mentioned earlier, I came across it on my social media timeline. I was drawn to the character designs, which seemed influenced by Japanese shojo anime and manga like 'Sailor Moon.'
Apart from the inherent appeal of the series, I really like the unique communication style of those involved with Kamen America. When the cosplay costume was finished, I posted a selfie wearing the wig, and the official account from the U.S. noticed it immediately and gave me a warm welcome, which was astonishing. The people involved with Kamen America and its fans further hyped it up, leaving me even more amazed.
This was my first experience of such frequent interaction among the original creators, illustrators, fan artists, fans, and cosplayers.
For instance, when cosplayers bring to life the costumes and hairstyles depicted in 2D, the official team sometimes adopts these versions, and fan artists may draw them too. It's rare to find a franchise with such close-knit interactions, which is why I find it so refreshing and enjoyable!
