Even if it is an illusion, Himmel (CV: Nobuhiko Okamoto) remains a hero. From the brief conversation between the illusion of Himmel and Frieren (CV: Atsumi Tanezaki) in episode 5 of the anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End," one can feel the deep connection between the two.
Frieren and Himmel were companions who spent ten years adventuring and defeating the Demon King. Frieren, an elf who has lived for over 1000 years, has a greatly different sense of time compared to humans, making her seem a bit cold. Despite this, it seems she cherishes Himmel in her own way. Also, in the story, there are frequent depictions suggesting that Himmel held some special feelings towards Frieren.
In episode 5, Frieren and her apprentice Fern (CV: Kana Ichinose) confronted an illusion demon (Einzarm). The illusion demon is a creature that disguises itself as someone precious to its target to confuse them. In the past, Frieren once saw an illusion of her master, the great magician Flamme (CV: Atsuko Tanaka).
Frieren expected the illusion of Flamme to appear again, but instead, it was the illusion of Himmel that appeared. Though surprised, Frieren showed a somewhat pleased expression, saying, "Perhaps I have changed a bit too." With the same gentle smile as the real one, the illusion of Himmel said to Frieren, "Shoot," to which Frieren confidently replied, "Yes, Himmel would say that," and released her attack spell without hesitation.
