[Photos/Images] The Perfect Companion for Deductive Reasoning!? That Incredibly Familiar Sound Effect Has Fans Saying “It’s Conan!” and “That’s 30 Minutes Too Early” [YAIBA Samurai Legend] 1st

Thanks to a connection with original creator Gosho Aoyama, the two anime series “Detective Conan” and “YAIBA Samurai Legend” have achieved an unexpected crossover! In episode 10 of “YAIBA Samurai Legend,” which began airing on June 7, fans who recognized “that distinctive sound effect” could not help but grin, commenting, “They casually used a Conan sound effect (lol)” and “That made me chuckle. Too clever.”

In episode 10, titled “The Arrival of the Onimaru Four Heavenly Kings,” Yaiba Kurogane (voiced by Minami Takayama) and Sayaka Mine (voiced by Manaka Iwami) confront Chameleon Bonaparte (voiced by Shinya Hamazoe), one of the Onimaru Four Heavenly Kings. Using his shape-shifting ability, Chameleon Bonaparte transforms into a doppelgänger of Yaiba.

Confused, Sayaka cannot tell which Yaiba is the real one. She decides to pose a math question, asking, “What is 500×1000?” One of the Yaibas answers correctly with “500,000!” almost immediately, while the other gives the odd response, “5... 500 million?” Realizing the latter is the real Yaiba, Sayaka declares, “Even if you can mimic his appearance, you can't copy what's inside his head. You’re the fake!” outing the impostor.

During Sayaka’s “great deduction,” the sound effect that played was none other than the iconic cue from “Detective Conan,” another anime series based on Gosho Aoyama’s manga. The sound is frequently used in “Detective Conan” whenever Conan Edogawa has a flash of insight during an investigation.

Every Saturday at 5:30 p.m., both “YAIBA Samurai Legend” and “Detective Conan” are broadcast back-to-back in what’s called the “Gosho Aoyama Hour” on Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV. It’s an hour of pure joy for fans, and now, with this playful “sound effect collaboration,” even more so. Many fans expressed their delight, saying, “That’s unmistakably the SE from the following program (Conan)!” “That sound effect is 30 minutes too early,” “Whoa, it’s Conan!! w,” “They casually used a Conan sound effect (lol),” and “That made me chuckle. Too clever.”
