Many viewers were healed by the bashful bath scene with Maomao and the Three Beauties, commenting, "I love the four-sisters vibe," "The extended family of Verdigris Pavilion feels so warm," and "A truly 'family' scene with the Three Beauties and Maomao."

On the other hand, the same episode also features a scene where Maomao shows a face filled with hatred. When she hears the name of her adversary, Lakan (voiced by Takuya Kirimoto), Maomao’s intense expression was so ferocious that even Jinshi (voiced by Takeo Ōtsuka), who has known her for a long time, was bewildered, saying, "I've never seen that face before. I never want to see it again." The contrast in Maomao's expressions left a lasting impression in this episode.

Currently, the anime "The Apothecary Diaries" is being streamed in a marathon format. The anime is based on the light novel of the same name by Natsu Hyuuga. It has also been adapted into manga versions in two monthly magazines, with the total circulation of the series surpassing 40 million copies. The TV anime aired continuously for two cours starting October 2023 and became widely popular for its mystery stories featuring Maomao working as a food taster in the inner palace and her comical interactions with Jinshi. The second season of the anime has been airing since January 2025.
