The series has become popular for characters like Lloyd, who is a “magic otaku” that never stops chasing magic despite his talent, and for its lavish displays of magic. Now, as the TV anime’s second season is about to launch—depicting Lloyd’s story as he visits the church to acquire “Divine Magic”—the cast was asked to share their thoughts and discuss the highlights of Season 2 and its characters.

First, when asked about their feelings ahead of Season 2, Makoto Koichi said, “With new characters being introduced, I’m really nervous about how Season 2 will be received by everyone. There’s also ‘the church arc,’ so our costumes are a bit different, and I hope viewers look forward to that, too.”

Fairouz Ai added, “In Season 1, due to the pandemic, it was hard for everyone to record together, but in Season 2, we’ve been able to do group recording sessions. It’s been so much fun to share the warmth and rhythm together,” highlighting the growing “family feeling” among the cast.

Manaka Iwami, who plays the new character Iisha from Season 2, said she was able to fit right in with the lively atmosphere on set: “Just like in the main story, the atmosphere during recording was always lively and harmonious. I enjoyed every session.”

During the character introductions, Makoto Koichi praised Iisha, a kind-hearted sister with a beautiful singing voice: “Manaka Iwami’s voice makes her character even ‘purer.’ It’s written that she ‘has a beautiful singing voice,’ so I imagine that’s a high bar—but… she was just amazing.”

To this, Iwami replied with a shy smile, “For Iisha, ‘song’ is a crucial element, so I felt a big responsibility there and really gave it my all,” emphasizing the importance of the singing scenes. As her character also has a mysterious connection with Lloyd, she hinted, “I can’t say much more than this… but when I received the singing data for recording, I was surprised at how it turned out,” raising expectations among the fans.
