The anime Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is based on the manga series of the same name by original author Kanehito Yamada and illustrator Tsukasa Abe, currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday. The story takes place in the world after the Demon King has been defeated and follows Frieren, a mage who has lived for over 1,000 years, on her journey to “understand people.” The original manga, which has won numerous awards and received high critical acclaim, currently consists of 14 published volumes and has exceeded 24 million copies in circulation. It has also been announced that a second season of the TV anime will air in January 2026.
