In Episode 10 of "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End," the confrontation between Aura the Guillotine (voiced by Ayana Taketatsu) and Frieren (voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki) finally comes to a close. While Aura’s defeat is a major highlight of the episode, a careful viewing reveals a brief but significant scene depicting Aura suffering a severe wound at the hands of the hero Himmel (voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto) in the past—a detail that must not be overlooked.
Aura is one of the formidable demons directly under the Demon King, known as the Seven Sages of Destruction, and has lived for over 500 years. She wields the deadly ability known as "Subjugation Magic Azelluze," which uses the "Scales of Obedience" to weigh her own soul against a target’s, allowing the one with greater mana to dominate the other.
In Episode 10, Aura loses to Frieren in a contest of mana and is, ironically, subjugated herself. Even those unfamiliar with "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" have likely heard the iconic line from Frieren, "Aura, take your own life," a phrase widely recognized among anime fans.
However, true aficionados of "Frieren" know that there are other must-see scenes that rival "Aura, take your own life" in impact. One such moment occurs in a flashback shown during the confrontation between the resurrected Aura and Frieren. In this scene, Himmel is shown slashing Aura’s shoulder, causing her to bleed—a moment depicted so quickly that Aura appears utterly dumbfounded.
