“Tougen Anki” is based on the popular manga by Yura Urushibara, serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion (Akita Shoten). This new-generation dark hero ogre tale draws on the classic Japanese folktale “Momotaro” as its motif, depicting a conflict between descendants of ogres and those of Momotaro. The story begins with a boy named Shiki, living a normal human life, when he is suddenly attacked one day by a mysterious man belonging to the “Momotaro Organization.”
Episode 2: “If You Want to Achieve, Keep Winning”
[Synopsis]
Naito Mudano, a member of the organization “Oni Organization” that opposes Momotaro, retrieves Shiki after he is wounded in battle. When Shiki regains consciousness, Mudano begins the assessment to determine, with cold logic, whether Shiki—having awakened to his ogre blood—would be a valuable asset to the organization. However, since Shiki is entirely preoccupied with avenging his father against Samidare Momoya, the Momotaro who killed him, Mudano changes tactics and switches to a rougher assessment. Attacked by Mudano and driven to the brink of death, Shiki temporarily loses control but manages to observe and learn Mudano’s use of blood powers, eventually taking control of his ogre blood through sheer force. As a result, Shiki just barely passes the assessment and is permitted to enroll in “Rashomon Academy,” the ogre training institution where Mudano serves as instructor. With his burning determination for revenge, Shiki becomes a Rashomon Academy student to grow even stronger.
