Jinshi (CV: Takeo Ōtsuka) breathes heavily and tries to kiss Maomao (CV: Aoi Yūki)...!? The result of yet another “love-comedy duel” between the two, played out in the final episode of season 2 of "The Apothecary Diaries," has viewers on the edge of their seats.

In episode 48, the final episode of season 2, Jinshi and Maomao have a conversation after the suppression of the Shi Clan. Having gone through the battle, Jinshi appears quite exhausted, his face even bearing fresh wounds. When Jinshi says, “Am I the kind of man who loses his value over a single scar? Just a pretty face and nothing inside?” Maomao shakes her head, replying, “If anything, a few more scars might suit you.” Even though Jinshi is an exceptionally handsome man, Maomao values his earnest character above his looks.

When Maomao smiles and says, “You look more dashing than before,” Jinshi’s face takes on a strained expression, as if he’s holding himself back. “Given the circumstances, I was trying to restrain myself, but...” Jinshi suddenly grabs Maomao by the shoulders.

Flustered, Maomao recommends, “Jinshi, wouldn’t it be better if you got some sleep?” But with a glitter in his eyes, Jinshi insists, “I’m still fine,” and draws close, trying to kiss her. Internally, Maomao panics, thinking, “What is this guy saying with such a gaunt face?!”
