The usual back-and-forth unfolds, and viewers are in an uproar: “What’s he trying to do!?” “No way, seriously?” “Those eyes are intense,” “Maomao’s reaction, lol.” In the end, Maomao barely manages to win this round of their “duel” as well...

Currently, all episodes of "The Apothecary Diaries" are being streamed in one go. The anime is based on the light novel of the same name by Hyuganatsu. It has also been adapted into manga in two monthly magazines, with the total series surpassing 40 million copies in print. The TV anime aired for two consecutive cours starting October 2023, and became a huge topic of conversation for its mystery-solving drama led by Maomao, who works as a poison tester in the inner palace, as well as the comical exchanges between Maomao and Jinshi. The second season of the anime began airing in January 2025, and in July it was announced that production on a sequel had been confirmed.
