The first appearance of the final boss, Muzan Kibutsuji (voiced by Toshihiko Seki) in the anime “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba,” was a series of shocking developments. The revelation that he unexpectedly has a wife and child, followed by his causing panic in a crowd, left not only Tanjirō Kamado (voiced by Natsuki Hanae) but also many viewers equally stunned.

Muzan is the king of demons, having created and controlled them since ancient times. To Tanjirō, Muzan is the mortal enemy who murdered his family and transformed his younger sister, Nezuko Kamado (voiced by Akari Kitō), into a demon.

Muzan first appears in episode 7 of “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc.” Tanjirō, while walking through the city, unexpectedly encounters Muzan for the first time. Just as Tanjirō is about to draw his sword, a young girl (voiced by Haruka Shiraishi) calls Muzan “Daddy.” To Tanjirō’s shock, Muzan is living his life disguised as a human, seemingly with a wife and daughter.

To the speechless Tanjirō, Muzan calmly says, “Isn’t this a case of mistaken identity?” Seizing the moment, he quickly turns a passerby into a demon, plunging the vicinity into chaos, and then slips away amidst the confusion.

Online, fans were abuzz with reactions such as “what a truly fiendish guy,” “how terrifying to blend in with ordinary people,” and “he’s got that quintessential final boss vibe.” While many were shocked by Muzan’s cruelty, Toshihiko Seki’s attractive voice also captivated fans, who exclaimed, “What an amazing voice!” and “Damn, he’s a villain but… his face… and his voice… are just too good…” From his very first appearance, Muzan left an indelible impact.
