Since her days as an apprentice, Fern (voiced by Kana Ichinose) in "Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End" has steadily trained under Frieren (voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki), eventually becoming such an outstanding mage that even Frieren herself acknowledges her. While Fern usually fights alongside Frieren, episode 9 of the anime depicts Fern facing a powerful demon on her own, overwhelming her opponent with her exceptional reaction speed and diverse magical attacks—her greatest strengths. Even when Lugner launched a full-force assault, declaring “Then I’ll crush you with everything I’ve got,” Fern perfectly defended herself—even blocking attacks from behind without looking.

The ensuing battle unfolds into a fierce exchange of numerous attacks from both sides. Although Lugner should have held an advantage in mana, Fern began to outpace him in the number of attacks.
