The TV anime version of “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc” is a re-edited work based on the 2020 film “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train”, supplemented with new episodes. In the seventh episode, the life-or-death battle between Kyojuro Rengoku and Akaza, Upper Rank Three (voiced by Akira Ishida), finally reaches its conclusion. While the demon Akaza—possessing incredible regenerative powers—remains in peak condition, the human Rengoku’s injuries have only worsened with each passing moment.

By this point, Rengoku’s left eye is completely destroyed, his ribs have been shattered, and his internal organs gravely injured. Akaza taunts, “If you were a demon, you’d recover in the blink of an eye. For demons, those wounds are but a scratch. No matter how you struggle, a human cannot defeat a demon,” but Rengoku’s fighting spirit only grows. He resolutely declares, “I will fulfill my duty! I will not let anyone here die!” as he raises his blade.

Then, with a resounding cry, Rengoku shouts, “Set your heart ablaze! Surpass your limits! I am the Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku!” and unleashes his ultimate technique, “Flame Breathing, Ninth Form: Rengoku.” A giant dragon of flame surges toward Akaza, and Rengoku’s slash rends Akaza’s body.
