Manipulating the Corpse of a Comrade in a Coffin... The Tenacity of Momotaro Shocks Viewers in Tougen Anki Episode 9

Episode 9 of the anime "Tougen Anki" began airing sequentially from September 5. Tsubakiri Momomiya (voiced by Daisuke Kishio) manipulates the corpse of his comrade Manaka Momobe (voiced by Masaaki Mizunaka), displaying not only Momomiya’s but also Manaka’s obsession—who turns himself into a puppet to defeat the Oni. This caused viewers to shudder, with reactions such as “Still fighting even in death?” and “He made himself a puppet...?”

In episode 9, “Momotaro Spirit,” Shiki Ichinose (voiced by Kazuki Ura) faces Tsubakiri Momomiya, who belongs to the Momotaro Agency. When Momomiya opens a coffin, Manaka, also a member of the Momotaro Agency, appears in puppet form, muttering “Oni must be completely exterminated.”

Enraged, Shiki shouts, “You're making even your comrade’s corpse into a puppet?!” Momomiya responds, “He wanted to become a puppet on his own,” explaining that, due to his obsession during his lifetime, Manaka remembers only the words “Oni must be completely exterminated.” Then, Momomiya declares, “If he is the soul, I will be his hands and feet. Let us avenge his regret in death!”, proclaiming it boldly.

At the abnormal obsession toward the Oni shown by both Momomiya and Manaka, viewers expressed continued amazement, saying things like, “He made himself a puppet...,” “Still fighting even after death...,” “A twisted relationship: a Momotaro who manipulates corpses, and one who wishes to be manipulated.”
