On August 16-17, 2025, at "Comic Market 106" held at Tokyo Big Sight, we featured photos of Zimiy-san, who participated in cosplay as Tennoji Rina from 'Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club', and conducted a text interview about the ingenuity in the cosplay and future cosplay plans.

Q. What inspired you to cosplay as Tennoji Rina from 'Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club'?

A. I never actually wanted to cosplay as Rina-chan. The truth is, I originally just wanted to post "I recreated Rina-chan Board!"

When I took photos of the self-made Rina-chan Board, I thought, "This is just a documentation photo, wouldn't it be boring for others to see?"

So, thinking about how to make it interesting for others, I came up with the idea: "If I purchase a wig and uniform and combine them with the Rina-chan Board, it might look like the character is actually in reality!"

Initially, I thought about buying a mannequin to dress it all up, but I decided it would be cheaper to wear it myself rather than buying a mannequin just for one photo.

Yes. I was being cheap.

This is where the gears started going off track.

After wearing the costume and taking photos, I sent them to a friend for a third-party check before posting on SNS.

Then my friend replied, "You're cosplaying too?!" This was the first time I realized, "Oh, what I'm doing is cosplay."

As the conversation continued, my friend revealed they were a former cosplayer and said, "With this quality just from wearing the costume, if you learn the differences in male and female bone structure and posing, you could seriously dominate!"

While wondering what "dominating cosplay" even meant, my friend continued with things like:

"I want to raise the quality!"
"I'm going to fill Zimiy with all my techniques and knowledge!"
"With your slender bone structure and body type, Zimiy, you can recreate girls!"

And pushed by my friend's enthusiasm, I ended up renting a hotel room for cosplay training.

Thus, the misaligned gears began to run.

By the way, some of you may have figured this out from this conversation, but I'm male. If anyone thought I was female, I apologize.

At the hotel, I practiced wearing the costume to look high-quality while learning about the differences in male and female bone structure.

The actual content was something like this:

・Create a waistline two fingers' width above the navel position
→Women have a higher navel position compared to men.

・Wear a sports bra positioned so that connecting the space between the collarbones and both nipples forms an equilateral triangle
→Memorizing positions based on bone structure stabilizes quality.

・Wear additional undergarment guards under the skirt
→Women have larger pelvises, so adding fabric thickness brings out femininity in the hips.

After this fitting instruction, I learned feminine movements and S-curve poses, and with a "Alright! Now I just need to keep this up for a long time!", the misaligned gears were launched toward Comiket.

This is how I came to participate in events in cosplay.

A few years after being launched, I was blessed with the opportunity to have an individual interview article written, so I think it's strange how things work out.

Therefore, to summarize the answer to the original question:

Q. "What inspired you to want to cosplay?"

A. "As a result of thinking about how to present the work and character in an interesting way, I ended up cosplaying before I knew it. I never particularly wanted to do cosplay itself."
