The final chapter of the TV anime "Golden Kamuy" will begin broadcasting in January 2026. Prior to the broadcast, the theatrical advance version "Golden Kamuy: Sapporo Beer Kōjō-hen" [Part 1] and [Part 2], which comprise the prologue to the final chapter, are currently being screened in theaters.

[Part 1] features the protagonist Saichi Sugimoto and other major characters gathering at the Sapporo Beer Factory, with an intense battle unfolding that truly showcases a spectacular cast ensemble. [Part 2] primarily depicts dialogue-driven scenes where Asirpa and others confront Lieutenant Tsurumi.

In this article, we interviewed Chikahiro Kobayashi, who plays Saichi Sugimoto, Haruka Shiraishi, who plays Asirpa, and Kentarō Itō, who plays Yoshitake Shiraishi, and asked them about episodes from the dubbing sessions.

Zoom in

——I watched both [Part 1] and [Part 2] in theaters, and the very powerful performances left a strong impression. Was the dubbing conducted in the same format as a regular TV series?

Kobayashi: Yes. We dubbed it as a TV anime, and then it was edited into the two parts.

——I personally thought the microphone work must have been challenging, especially in [Part 1] with so many characters intermingling.

Itō: It would have been difficult if we had recorded it as [Part 1] and [Part 2] from the beginning (laughs). But there are always a lot of people in this production.

Shiraishi: Different teams were shown in each cut, so the microphone work was relatively stable.

——So it wasn't as chaotic as the main story itself (laughs).

Everyone: (Laughs)

Itō: Noda-sensei was also in the booth, you know (laughs).

——It's rare for the original author to be inside the booth!

Kobayashi: It is rare, and it made us nervous.

——By the way, were there any directions from Noda-sensei?

Kobayashi: The only one was regarding the "Pui" part in [Part 1].

Itō: Ahaha (laughs). I asked, "Should we put in 'Pui' as a line?" and he said, "Yes, you should."
