Gorō, who works as an obstetrician-gynecologist, was a devoted fan of Ai, the undisputed ace of the idol group "B-Komachi." One day, Gorō was dejected after Ai announced a temporary hiatus from her activities, but he then discovered that the pregnant woman who came in for his first consultation was none other than Ai herself.

Upon learning that his favorite idol was pregnant, Gorō decided to help Ai, who insisted on continuing her idol career without publicizing the fact that she was having children. However, Ai's pregnancy ultimately leads to Gorō becoming involved in a major incident.

The original work is the manga of the same name, which was serialized in Weekly Young Jump. It garnered attention because it was a collaboration between Aka Akasaka of Kaguya-sama: Love Is War and Mengo Yokoyari of Scum's Wish. The manga went on to win first place in the Comics Division of the "Next Manga Award 2021" (Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taishō 2021). The original manga series concluded with a total of 16 volumes. Furthermore, a live-action drama and film adaptation were produced in 2024.

The ending theme song for Season 3 of the anime Oshi no Ko is "Serenade," performed by music creator natori. The first promotional video (PV) for Season 3 was released on November 4, 2025, and features a portion of the song "Serenade."

natori revealed that every time he tried to understand Aqua, the protagonist of Oshi no Ko, he felt as if he was being dropped to the bottom of darkness. He clarified that he created the song "Serenade" with the wish that Aqua could, at least for the duration that the song is playing, sleep peacefully and happily.

The anime tie-in songs natori has sung so far include "Zettai Reido (Absolute Zero)," the opening theme for Season 1 of WIND BREAKER, and "Iranai Mono (Useless Thing)," the opening theme for the first cour of Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno, which was a collaboration with Tatsuya Kitani.

What is the opening theme song for Season 3 of the anime Oshi no Ko?

As of November 2025, the opening theme song for Season 3 of the anime Oshi no Ko has not yet been announced. Since the ending theme, "Serenade," was used in the first promotional video (PV) for Season 3, the opening theme song will likely be announced when the second or third PVs for Season 3 are released.

For Seasons 1 and 2 of Oshi no Ko, Sony Music artists were in charge of the theme songs. Given that natori, who sings the Season 3 ending theme, is also on the Sony Music label, it is likely that the artist singing the Season 3 opening theme will also be an artist who releases music through Sony Music.

Anime Oshi no Ko Season 2 Opening Theme Song: "Fatale"

The Season 2 opening theme song is "Fatale", performed by the unit GEMN , which consists of Kento Nakajima and Tatsuya Kitani. Regarding "Fatal," Tatsuya Kitani commented, "I created 'Fatal' as a love song to the things that have driven me mad. I hope everyone enjoys it!"

Nakajima wrote, "When Tatsuya Kitani and I shared the histories of our respective lives, we found that we had a lot in common where we could resonate with each other. I am proud that the two of us were able to create this song and that 'GEMN' was born."

The term "fatale" is a French word that means "fateful," "destined," or "fatal/deadly." Within the lyrics of the song "Fatal," the words meaning "fateful," "fatal/deadly," and "inevitable" are used.

GEMN is a special unit formed by two individuals: Kento Nakajima, who was a member of the idol group Sexy Zone, and singer-songwriter Tatsuya Kitani.

When the artist for the Season 2 Opening Theme of Oshi no Ko was announced as GEMN on May 26, 2024, no details about them were revealed, as they were presented as a mystery artist. However, it was announced on June 30, 2024, that the unit consisted of Nakajima and Kitani.

While there is no mention of the unit name on the artists' official websites, it is presumed that the name GEMN (Gem), meaning "jewel" or "gemstone," is a reference to Aquamarine (Aqua) and Ruby, the two main characters in Oshi no Ko.

Additionally, some speculation was seen online that the name, which takes the English word "Gemini" (meaning "twins") and removes the letter "i," symbolizes the twins (Aqua and Ruby) having lost Ai.

Who is Kento Nakajima?

Nakajima began his career in 2009 as a member of the idol group B.I.Shadow, releasing the song "Akuma na Koi / NYC" under the name Yuma Nakayama w/B.I.Shadow. He was a member of Sexy Zone from 2011 and graduated from the group in March 2024.

In addition to his idol activities, Nakajima has appeared as an actor in numerous works, including TV dramas and films. He has starred in live-action film adaptations of many manga and anime works, such as Silver Spoon, The Anthem of the Heart (Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda.), and Nisekoi.

Who is Tatsuya Kitani?

Kitani began his career as a Vocaloid producer (Vocaloid P) around 2014, while he was enrolled at the University of Tokyo, creating Vocaloid music under the name "Konnichiwa Tanita-san."

Since 2017, he has been active as a singer-songwriter while also providing music to other artists. In 2023, he performed in the NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen (Red and White Song Battle).

The anime tie-in songs Kitani has sung include "Scar," the opening theme for BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War, "Ao no Sumika (Where Our Blue Is)," the opening theme for the "Hidden Inventory / Premature Death" arc of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, and "Jikai Yokoku (Next Episode's Preview)," the opening theme for Go! Anime Oshi no Ko Season 1 Opening Theme Song: "Idol"

The opening theme song for Season 1 of the anime Oshi no Ko is "Idol," performed by the music duo YOASOBI.

YOASOBI operates under the concept of a "unit that turns novels into music," and every one of their songs is based on an original novel. The opening theme, "Idol," was produced based on the short story "45510," which was specially written by Aka Akasaka, the original author of Oshi no Ko. This novel was made fully available to the public for a limited time starting April 13, 2023.

Ayase, the composer for YOASOBI, was a fan of the Oshi no Ko manga even before the anime adaptation, and reportedly used to create songs whenever inspiration struck him while reading it. He revealed that the opening theme, "Idol," was composed by weaving together elements based on Aka Akasaka's novel "45510" along with songs that he had previously created under that inspiration.

ikura, the vocalist for YOASOBI, commented that the highlight of "Idol" is the authentic rap section, and that she sings it while fully immersing herself as Ai, one of the characters in the story.

Furthermore, the music video for "Idol" was released on April 13, 2023, immediately following the broadcast of Episode 1. In the video, you can view animation specially created by the TV anime's animation team exclusively for the music video.

They have served as personalities on All Night Nippon and performed on NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen, gaining support not only from young people but also from a wide range of audiences.

The vocalist, ikura, also works as a singer-songwriter under the name "Lilas Ikuta." Under the Lilas Ikuta name, she has sung "Hyakka Ryōran" (A Hundred Flowers Blooming), the opening theme for the first cour of The Apothecary Diaries Season 2, and "Actor," the ending theme for SPY×FAMILY Season 3.

Ayase, the composer, began his activities as a Vocaloid Producer (Vocaloid P), posting Vocaloid music, in December 2018. He reportedly earned almost no income as a Vocaloid P and sustained himself through part-time jobs, but he revealed that his life completely changed after YOASOBI's song "Yoru ni Kakeru" became a hit.

The anime tie-in songs (anisongs) that YOASOBI has performed include "Shukufuku (The Blessing)," the opening theme for Season 1 of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, "Yūsha (The Hero)," the opening theme for the first cour of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, and "UNDEAD," the ending theme for Monogatari Series: Off & Monster Season.

Ziyoou-vachi is a four-member rock band formed in 2009. They gained popularity not only for their seductive and unique songs but also for the wide vocal range and expressive power of their vocalist, Avu-chan. After making their major debut in 2011, their album track "Desco" was selected as the main theme song for the film Moteki that same year, bringing them significant attention.

The performance of "Kaen," the opening theme song for Dororo, which Avu-chan performed when appearing on the YouTube channel "THE FIRST TAKE," received high praise not only in Japan but also overseas, accumulating over 36 million views as of November 2025.

In the October 2022 season (cour), Ziyoou-vachi was in charge of two anime tie-in songs, handling the ending theme "Violence" for the anime Chainsaw Man and the opening theme "MYSTERIOUS" for the anime Kōkyū no Karasu (Raven in the Inner Palace), thus producing music for two different anime series in a single cour.

The three insert songs from anime Episode 1—"Sign is B - Ai Solo Ver. -," "STARTRAIN - Ai Solo Ver. -," and "HEART's KISS - Ai Solo Ver. -"—are sung by Rie Takahashi, who serves as Ai's voice actress. These three songs are Ai's character songs (charasongs) and are performed under the name "B-Komachi Ai (CV: Rie Takahashi)."

Takahashi is a well-known voice actress, famous for roles such as Takagi in Teasing Master Takagi-san and Emilia in Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World. When asked about her preparation for the role of Ai in the anime Oshi no Ko, she mentioned that she heavily prioritized Ai's past, stating that she "went full throttle with the character preparation" in order to give her all in the extended Episode 1.

Takahashi's musical activities to date include singing character songs for the anime titles she has appeared in, performing as a member of the voice actress unit "Earphones," and releasing music as a solo artist.

The anime tie-in songs she has released as a solo artist include "Kyōkan Sarenakute mo Ii Janai (Isn't It Okay if I'm Not Understood?)," the opening theme song for I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss.

On February 2, 2024, a video of Takahashi covering the opening theme song "Idol" was released on the official YouTube channel for the anime Oshi no Ko. The comments section of the video was filled with praise for Takahashi, including remarks such as: "It's beyond words how amazing this is..." and "Takahashi is, without exaggeration, a perfect and ultimate voice actress. She's practically the idol of the voice acting world."

Episode 5 Insert Song: "Pieyon Boot Dance"

In anime Episode 5, Ruby Hoshino and Kana Arima appear on the channel of Pieyon, a masked fitness YouTuber, as part of their preparation for their idol activities. The concept of Pieyon's video was that if Ruby and Kana, both wearing masks, could keep up with Pieyon's dance for one hour, they would be allowed to show their faces. The song played during that scene was "Pieyon Boot Dance," sung by Pieyon (CV: Taishi Murata).

On the day following the broadcast of Episode 5, a dance video for "Pieyon Boot Dance" was released on the official YouTube channel for Oshi no Ko. In addition to the standard dance video, a one-hour endurance version was also published. The video's comments section included remarks such as "Pieyon's voice is strangely addictive" and "The song is highly infectious," suggesting that many people found the song mysteriously compelling and prone to endless repetition.

"Pieyon Boot Dance" will be included in the "TV Anime Oshi no Ko Character Song CD Vol. 3," which is scheduled for release on July 5, 2023.

The ending credits for Episode 5 list the composers and arrangers for "Pieyon Boot Dance" as Piyosuya Sabou, Piyozaki Ayato, and Piyobana Ryōsuke. Note that individuals with very similar names—Karasuya Sabou, Ayato Shinozaki, and Ryōsuke Tachibana—who have worked on songs for the Idolmaster series, among others, have tweeted about "Pieyon Boot Dance."

The person singing the Episode 5 insert song, "Pieyon Boot Dance," is voice actor Taishi Murata. This song is a character song for the Oshi no Ko character Pieyon and is performed under the name "Pieyon (CV: Taishi Murata)."

When Murata appeared on the Oshi no Ko radio program, Oshi no Ko no Ohanashi, for its fourth episode, he revealed that the vocal recording for "Pieyon Boot Dance" took place before he participated in the voice recording (post-recording) session as Pieyon. Murata stated that the vocal recording for the song pushed him beyond his limit—due partly to the singing style required—and that he felt, "In 16 years (since my debut), I've never been tested like this."

Regarding the performance of Pieyon's voice, he commented that he "simply and purely devoted himself to the role of a catalyst, faithfully adhering to the script." Among the works Murata has appeared in as a voice actor are the roles of Eiichirō Maruo in Baby Steps and Jiruo in Made in Abyss.

Episode 9 Insert Songs:"P-man Taisō""Full moon…!"

Two insert songs were used in anime Episode 9. When the decision was being made as to who would be the center of the new "B-Komachi," the song "P-man Taisō (P-man Gymnastics)" was played in that scene. Within the story, "P-man Taisō" is a song that Kana Arima released during her child actress days, and it is said to have reached number one on the Oricon charts and led to her appearance on numerous music programs. "P-man Taisō" is described as a childish song with subtly off-key vocals, and Ruby mentions that she was made to dance to it when she was in kindergarten.

Then, after Ruby and MEM-cho had a karaoke battle to decide the center of the new "B-Komachi," they discovered that Kana had released songs other than "P-man Taisō." The other insert song, "Full moon…!," was the song whose music video they played on a smartphone at that moment.

Since the music video featured a grown-up Kana, the song is presumed to have been released after she had matured, rather than during her child actress days. Kana herself claimed to be a poor singer, but after hearing "Full moon…!," Ruby was astonished by Kana's singing, saying, "She calls this bad...? Isn't she too hard on herself?"

The two songs, "P-man Taisō" and "Full moon...!," will be included in the "TV Anime Oshi no Ko Character Song CD Vol. 3," which is scheduled for release on July 5, 2023. The information for the lyricists and composers of "P-man Taisō" and "Full moon...!" is as follows:

The person singing the Episode 9 insert songs, "P-man Taisō" and "Full moon...!," is Megumi Han, who is the voice actress for Kana Arima. Since "P-man Taisō" and "Full moon...!" are Kana Arima's character songs, they are performed under the name "Kana Arima (CV: Megumi Han)."

Anime works Han has appeared in include the roles of Gon Freecss in Hunter × Hunter (2011 series), Rinko Yamato in My Love Story!! (Ore Monogatari!!), and Hime Shirayuki (Cure Princess) in HappinessCharge PreCure!. She won the Best Supporting Actress Award at the 11th Seiyu Awards (2016 fiscal year), an annual ceremony that recognizes achievements in the most impressive voice acting roles and works of the year.

When asked about the similarities between herself and the character Kana Arima she plays, Han said that because she is a type of person who lacks self-confidence, when she is selected for a role in an anime or other work, she feels motivated to do her best for the staff who chose her and those who are happy for her. She stated that this aspect is where she and Kana Arima are alike.

Episode 11 Insert Songs:"STARTRAIN - New Arrange Ver. -""Sign is B - New Arrange Ver. -"

Episode 11 features a live performance scene by the new B-Komachi. The three members of the new B-Komachi (Ruby, Kana Arima, and MEM-cho) performed "STARTRAIN" and "Sign is B"—the same songs that Ai had sung in anime Episode 1—during their appearance at the Japan Idol Festival.

In Episode 1, the song titles included the notation "- Ai Solo Ver. -," but the versions sung by the new B-Komachi in Episode 11 were titled "STARTRAIN - New Arrange Ver. -" and "Sign is B - New Arrange Ver. -," indicating that the arrangement has been changed.

The Ai Version of "STARTRAIN" was characterized by its impressive electric guitar, but the New B-Komachi Version featured differences such as an electro arrangement. The arranger also changed: the Ai Version of "STARTRAIN" was arranged by Masatomi Waki, while the New B-Komachi Version was arranged by Taishi Kawai.Regarding "Sign is B," the arrangement also changed between the Ai Version and the New B-Komachi Version...

The Character Song CD Vol. 2, scheduled for release on July 5, 2023, will include not only "STARTRAIN - New Arrange Ver. -" and "Sign is B - New Arrange Ver. -" but also "HEART's KISS - New Arrange Ver. -," which was not performed in Episode 11.

Furthermore, the digital single "Character Song CD Vol. 2.5," which has been scheduled for release, will include solo vocal versions of the three songs—"STARTRAIN," "Sign is B," and "HEART's KISS"—performed by Ruby, Kana Arima, and MEM-cho, respectively.

The songs—"STARTRAIN - New Arrange Ver. -" and "Sign is B - New Arrange Ver. -" from Episode 11, and "POP IN 2" from Episodes 23 & 24—are sung by the idol group B-Komachi, which appears in the story.

Within the anime, B-Komachi was originally the name of the group to which Ai belonged. However, over a decade after Ai's death, her daughter Ruby, the actress Kana Arima (who was once a huge child star), and the influencer MEM-cho have taken over the name B-Komachi and are continuing their idol activities.

These are character songs performed under the character names by the three voice actresses: Yurie Igoma (voice of Ruby), Megumi Han (voice of Kana Arima), and Rumi Okubo (voice of MEM-cho). The credit for the artist name is listed as: "B-Komachi Ruby (CV: Yurie Igoma), Kana Arima (CV: Megumi Han), MEM-cho (CV: Rumi Okubo)."

Igoma, who plays the role of Ruby, revealed that the role is her first regular role in a TV anime series. She has also reported on the post-recording (dubbing) sessions for the show on the official Oshi no Ko YouTube channel and hosts the live-broadcast radio segment.

Han, the voice actress for Kana Arima, is known for major roles such as Gon Freecss in Hunter × Hunter (2011 series), while Ōkubo, the voice actress for MEM-cho, is known for major roles such as Yuzuko Nonohara in Yuyushiki.

Episode 23 & 24 Insert Song: "POP IN 2"

The insert song used in Episode 23 and Episode 24 is B-Komachi's "POP IN 2." In the story, the composer Himuro, whose motivation had been low, regained his drive after watching a video message from Ruby and consequently created "POP IN 2."

In Episode 24, during the filming of the "POP IN 2" music video (MV), Ruby's normally bright and shining stars in her eyes turn black as she vows in her heart to absolutely find the person who killed Gorō and Ai. The MV for "POP IN 2" attracted significant attention and became the catalyst for a major increase in B-Komachi's recognition.

In the real world, the song "POP IN 2" was composed by Main Kushita and Tsumugi Shachi. The lyrics were written by Tsumugi Shachi.

Insert Songs Used in Anime Oshi no Ko Season 1 to be Included in Character Song CDs

The songs used as insert songs in the anime's first season will be simultaneously released as three Character Song CDs on July 5, 2023.

Vol. 1 will include three songs sung by B-Komachi Ai (CV: Rie Takahashi), which were used as insert songs in Episode 1. "Say What?" and "Shinkai 52Hz" have a different musical style compared to the songs B-Komachi has sung up until now.

Additionally, the digital release of "Character Song CD Vol. 4.5" has also been confirmed. "Character Song CD Vol. 4.5" will include solo vocal versions of the three songs—"POP IN 2," "Say What?," and "Shinkai 52Hz"—performed individually by the members of B-Komachi (Ruby, Kana, and MEM-cho).

What is the meaning of 52Hz?

Regarding the title of the included song, "Shinkai 52Hz (Deep Sea 52Hz)," there was no official explanation of its specific meaning when the title was first announced. The "Hz" in "52Hz" is thought to represent Hertz, the unit for frequency. Incidentally, the larger the number, the higher the pitch, and the smaller the number, the lower the pitch.

The term that comes to mind when hearing the frequency "52Hz" is the "52-Hertz Whale." This refers to a whale characterized by calling at a frequency much higher than that of typical whales. Furthermore, because only a single individual calling at 52Hz has ever been observed, it is called "The Loneliest Whale."

While this is purely speculation, it is thought that the title "Shinkai 52Hz (Deep Sea 52Hz)" was chosen with the "52-Hertz Whale" in mind.

As an aside, the "52-Hertz Whale" is also a motif that has been referenced in numerous creative works; for instance, there is a song titled "52Hz no Kujira" (52Hz Whale) and it is the subject of Sonoko Machida's book, 52 Hertzs no Kujira-tachi (52 Hertz Whales), which was also adapted into a film.

Will there be new character songs in Season 3?

As of before the broadcast, no information regarding the Season 3 character songs has been announced. However, since character song CDs were released for both Season 1 and Season 2, there is a possibility that a character song CD featuring the members of B-Komachi will also be released for Season 3.

Although it is primarily speculated that Season 3 will cover content starting from Volume 9 of the original manga, this volume includes panels depicting a B-Komachi live performance scene. Therefore, there is a possibility that a new song will be performed in the anime adaptation.
