——I heard that there was a shared understanding to 'avoid making it look like a cosplay' while still staying true to the original manga.
Mizukami:In terms of the acting, I bleached my hair once a week, so my hair is still damaged and brittle. I sometimes heard people say, 'That's amazing,' but from my perspective, I am getting paid to do that and earn a living from it, so it was a natural approach.
Of course, I understand and accept that there are people who cannot do that for various reasons, but in an action scene, if the camera work, the wind, and the acting are all perfect, and only the wig slips, the person who feels the most responsibility is the hair and makeup artist.
Therefore, I had absolutely no hesitation about dyeing my real hair, so that we wouldn't have to do another take (because of a wig). I believe that, from the acting side, this was one of the efforts we made to avoid the work looking like a cosplay, and instead keep it grounded in reality.
——Please allow me to ask a little more about the reality in your performance. What points of reality did you consider important when playing Sakura?
Mizukami:My aim was to pursue the reality that 'people can't change that quickly.' That is why, if that potential for change exists within Sakura, I believe the same can be said for anyone.
——When Sakura first appeared, his simple-minded desire to 'reach the top with his fists' was prominent. How did you approach that particular aspect of his character?
Mizukami:Regarding that, I felt I had to maintain a certain distance. If I, personally, were to approach this work in a way that involved clinging too closely [to the character], I felt it would be slightly off. The other me, who controls my body as an actor, actually started negating [that impulse] rather than affirming it.
Of course, I deeply empathize with the essence of this story, which is 'immature people achieving maturity through interaction with others,' and I believe that is how one should live.

Besides the intense action scenes, we want everyone to experience in the theater the way Sakura and the others live, their struggles, and their growth, all expressed by real human beings throughout the entire film.
